We are a mission group traveling to Uganda's Hope Child Care Program in February. Hope Child Care Program is a community based organization which was started to improve the lives of orphans whose parents died of AIDS and are left abandoned in many communities in the Rakai District of Southern Uganda. Capacity for Greatness
As this is one of the first post on our blog, I will tell you a short story of how and why we've started this blog...or are even bothering with this trip to Uganda. After all, how can a group of folks in Washington change the lives of orphans in Uganda?
We believe in one simple truth - that God made all people for greatness. He made them perfect for His purposes in their lives. The truth is, part of our responsibility as Christians is to seek out what it is He wants us to accomplish and for us to do our very best to help others find their own purpose. So this trip to Uganda is exactly that - a group of Washingtonians trying to take the next step in our own obedience to the Lord, while hoping that our presence and our gifts to the HCCP Orphanage fills the significant need of the children, families, teachers, and villagers...and that by filling the need, they can be released to focus not on survival, but rather on the greatness for which God has made them.
So whether we impact the orphanage more or whether the orphanage impacts us more, is yet to be determined. But either way, we're out for an adventure - living boldly for the Lord! Will you be a part of following this journey and participating in praying and giving?
